  • MEI School New Session Starts

    01 June 2022

    MEI was successful to start MEI School's new session on a regular basis like another school on the 1st of June 2022. Now, MEI School is on the smooth flow under the management of Dr Draupati Tamang (Volunteer) acting as Principal and Himala Rai Vice Principal and the other remaining 5 teachers and 3 staff are local. Now, MEI School has been an oasis to deliver quality education to MEI children and the local children on a paid basis.

  • MEI School Gets, New School Building

    01 December 2021

    On December 1st, MEI starts the school building project and completes it by the end of April for the new session of 2022-23. MEI completes the school building projects with a total cost of Seventy Thousand Dollars ($70,000) along with the school bus and classroom setup. The funds were arranged by MEI, Sina Tanner, Hira Lal Tamang, Manjita Tamang, Jotsna Tamang and local partner Gokul Pradhan.

  • Gift of School; on her 50th Birth Day

    18 July 2020

    MEI President Mrs Sina Tanner donated to MEI School for the construction of the MEI School building on her 50th birthday. And, MEI School's block will be named after her "Sina's Primary School"

  • MEI Nepal registered under 501(c)(3)

    04 March 2020

    In 2020, MEI Nepal registered in Switzerland under 501(c)(3) under the presidentship of Sina Tanner and membership of Mr Lars Stettler and Mrs Bosa Stettler.

  • MEI starts own school

    04 January 2019

    In 2019 MEI starts MEI Community School but due to registration issues later had to get the school license as Pawan Academy and later it is changed to MEI school. MEI school started its own school on rented houses in Thori. MEI School is for the MEI children and also takes local children on a paid basis and the income goes back to MEI.

  • Sina Tanner becomes international president

    30 January 2018

    Mrs Sina Tanner was very close with the child sponsorship project since her teenage as she had volunteered in the child sponsorship project (NAG) from 1997-98. She joins MEI in 2014 as a Europe coordinator. In 2018, Sina Tanner becomes the international president of MEI.

  • Library Establishment Project 2016-17

    02 December 2016

    MEI director, Mr Hira Lal Tamang organizes a community library est. project in 2016-17 in a joint venture with 15 colleges in Kathmandu. On the project, Mr Kishor Gmiray and Mrs Isha Rajya Laxmi Rana were the project coordinator and this campaign successfully collected more than 5 thousand books for the library. Due to the lack of local authority support, the community library was unable to be set up and the MEI Library is in the process to be set up on MEI School premises.

  • MEI volunteers Sanitizes the core areas of Kathmandu

    Under the leadership of Raj Shakya MEI launched the cleaning and sanitization campaign in the core areas where there were crowded old Newari settlements. In the campaign, more than 20 volunteers participated and we collaborated with Children of the Sea - Onlus to mobilise the volunteers around Kathmandu. This sanitization camp was run for more than 2 weeks and we covered the most crowded areas of Kathmandu as Asol, Kasthamandup, Hanuman Dhoka etc.

    After the devastating earthquake in Nepal, the country was in shock. Which took more than 8 thousand lives and left injured more than 21 thousand people. So, MEI president Jotsna Tamang launched a crowd fundraising campaign and kept the donation boxes on the streets of New York to fund the medical aid and food in the remote village Phulping Danda fo Sindupalchowk. The good deeds of MEI and president Jotsna Tamang was featured in international categories of Women in Business Swiss Magazine.

  • Fund Raising on the streets of New York

    President of MEI, Mrs Jotsna Tamang launched a fundraising event and kept donation boxes around the streets of New York with the help of her friends to run a cleaning and sanitization camp in Kathmandu's inner area where there was mass destruction. And, to run the medical camp and emergency food distribution in Fulping Danda, Sindupalchowk and some of the most destructed villages of Ramechhap.

  • MEI in devastating earth quake 2015

    On 25th April 2015, a devastating earthquake hit Nepal which took away the lives of more than 8000 people and injured more than 21 thousand MEI launched a medical camp at Phulping Danda, Sindupalchowk. Mrs Sarita Basnet and her friends volunteered in MEI Medical Camp as staff nurses.

  • Europe Coordinator visit Thori

    15 March 2014

    Mrs Sina Tanner joined MEI in 2014 as a Europe coordinator and in 2015 she visited Nepal for the 3rd time. This time she visited the remote village of Thori where there was no access to electricity and road. She visited all the nearby villages of Thori such as Badarjhula, Echhanagar etc.

    MEI started its very first project, "Free Education Project" with seven children from Thori. Bishal, Binita and Anita Bompo Tamang including the other four were the first lucky ones to get sponsors from MEI in 2012.

    Maya Education Initiatives (MEI) was founded by a group of ex. students who were grown up in a child sponsorship project known as NAG. MEI was founded under the presidency of Mrs Jotsna Tamang.
