Mr Govinda Bista
- regional manager
I am Gobinda Bista. I was born in the countryside of Nepal called Thori Parsa, to a poor farmer's family. My parents are uneducated and they don’t know the importance of education. We are 6 brothers-sisters and I am the youngest of all. Due to some circumstances, One night my brother ran away from home and returned only after 10 years. In 1994, he brought me to NAG and I stayed there for 10 years to complete my education.
After leaving NAG, I went to the gulf country for 6 years. At that time period, I realized and thought of working in my own country, especially in Parsa. Due to the devastating flood in 1990, many people lost their homeland like me which led the community to poverty for several years.
After returning from the gulf with the help of Sina Tanner I started to get involved in the local base committee work. In 2012, Hira and I decided to run a free schooling project for needy ones. In 2013, I became a member of Maya Education Initiatives and Jotsna Tamang, founding President before it was Maya foundation. Since 2013, I am working in Maya Education Initiatives from Thori, Parsa.
